Local Information

Lincolnshire’s public transport network covers one of the largest geographical areas in the UK. This information will help you to navigate your way round the county.

Boston

Boston is a busy, thriving market town with a small port close to the east coast of Lincolnshire. Boston has a good public transport network including InterConnect bus routes to Lincoln and Skegness as well as local services within Boston and to Spalding & Spilsby. Boston lies on the Poacher rail line and has direct trains to Skegness, Sleaford, Grantham and Nottingham.

Boston Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. The service covers a large operating area including Heckington, Kirton, Boston Pilgrim Hospital and Leake Commonside.

Callconnect does not offer town journeys in Boston except for passengers who have mobility impairment and may use mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking frames.

Bourne

Bourne is an historic market town in the south of Lincolnshire with regular public transport links to Peterborough, Stamford and Spalding. Although the town doesn’t have a train station there are rail connections in the neighbouring larger towns and cities. One of the UK’s oldest family-run bus companies – Delaines – who operate most services in the town also take pride in running a transport heritage museum.

ConnectBus operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. The service has a large operating area and includes Castle Bytham, Billingborough and the Waterside Garden Centre at Baston.

Caistor

Caistor is a small market town in the north of Lincolnshire. The main bus route is served by the InterConnect 53 and connects Caistor to Market Rasen, Lincoln, Grimsby and Cleethorpes. The nearest railway stations are located in the neighbouring villages of Barnetby (which can accessed by Callconnect), Kirton-in-Lindsey and Market Rasen.


Caistor Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. Callconnect in Caistor has a large rural operating  area and includes Brigg. Connections and onward travel can be made using the service including connecting to Humberside Airport and Barnetby railway station.

Gainsborough

Gainsborough is a large and flourishing town in the north west of Lincolnshire. The bus station is busy with many routes to neighbouring towns and cities including InterConnect 100 between Scunthorpe and Lincoln. In addition Gainsborough has a comprehensive town service operated by Stagecoach. Gainsborough also has two railway stations with services to Doncaster, Sheffield, Retford, Brigg, Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Lincoln.

Gainsborough Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. The service has a large operating area and includes Kirton in Lindsey, Ingham, Torksey Lock and Hemswell.

Callconnect does not offer town journeys in Gainsborough except for passengers who have mobility impairment and may use mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking frames.

Grantham

Grantham is a large town in the south of Lincolnshire. Grantham has plenty of rail and bus connectivity with the London-Edinburgh East Coast main rail line and the Nottingham-Boston-Skegness PoacherLine. InterConnect 1 is the principal bus service between Grantham & Lincoln and has a number of local and rural bus routes.

Grantham Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. In addition to our easy-to-use bookable bus services, there are additional timetabled services: Service 4 Grantham to Stamford; and Service 26 Aslackby/Billingborough to Grantham to complement the on-demand bus service.

Callconnect does not offer town journeys in Grantham except for passengers who have mobility impairment and may use mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking frames.

Holbeach

Holbeach is a small fenland market town in the south of Lincolnshire. The town’s bus interchange is centrally located and the principal bus route is the InterConnect 505 for journeys to and from Kings Lynn and Spalding where passengers can connect to rail and other bus services.

Holbeach Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. The service is fully accessible and a tail lift is available to accommodate mobility aids.

Horncastle

Horncastle is a market town full of character, located in the heart of the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds. The town is served by many bus services including the Interconnect 56 service between Lincoln and Skegness. Other services offer journeys to Louth, Woodhall Spa and Boston.

Horncastle Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. In addition to our easy-to-use bookable bus services to connect to Horncastle, there is the additional timetabled service: Service 24 Horncastle to Louth. 

Lincoln

Lincoln is a historically important city and the capital of the county. The city is at the heart of Lincolnshire’s inter-urban and Interconnect bus network with regular timetabled services operating within the city and on local routes. The new and accessible bus station is located opposite the railway station which enables direct rail connections to London, Sleaford, Gainsborough, Newark, Nottingham and Spalding, to name a few.

Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. Two Callconnect services operate to the north and west of the city and provide connections to uphill Lincoln, Birchwood and parts of Hykeham.

Due to the comprehensive network of bus services in Lincoln city centre, we do not offer journeys that are exclusively within Lincoln city.

Long Sutton

Long Sutton is a small fenland town in the south of Lincolnshire and is within close proximity of Holbeach, Sutton Bridge and Spalding. The town’s bus interchange is centrally located and the principal bus route is the InterConnect 505 for journeys to and from Kings Lynn and Spalding where passengers can connect to rail and other bus services.

Long Sutton Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. The service is fully accessible and a tail lift is available to accommodate mobility aids.

Louth

Louth is a beautiful market town in the Wolds, and has easy access to the Lincolnshire Coastline. Louth’s bus station is the main transport hub and the InterConnect 51 is the principal bus service which provides connections to Grimsby. The Louth Nipper also provides a local town service.

Louth Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. In addition to our easy-to-use bookable bus services to connect to Louth, there are additional timetabled services: Service 23 – Louth to Manby; Service 24 – Louth to Horncastle; and Service 26 /27 Louth – Binbrook – Market Rasen.

Callconnect does not offer town journeys in Louth except for passengers who have mobility impairment and may use mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking frames.

Mablethorpe

Mablethorpe is a traditional seaside holiday resort on the Lincolnshire coast. The bus station and Interchange are located on Seacroft Road. The InterConnect 59 provides a regular service to Skegness. In addition there are a variety of bus services to Alford, Louth and Spilsby.

Mablethorpe Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. Our vehicles are fully accessible and a tail lift is available to accommodate mobility aids, enabling all to travel. This is perfect for residents and holidaymakers alike who can make the most of this service to connect to onward bus services to travel further.

Market Deeping

Market Deeping is a market town and with neighbouring villages of Deeping St James, Deeping St Nicholas and West Deeping are known in Lincolnshire as The Deepings. It is located in the Lincolnshire Fens near the A15 close to Peterborough and Stamford. Local bus services offer transport links to Spalding, Peterborough and Stamford where onward travel via rail is available to London, Nottingham, Sleaford, Lincoln and many more town and cities.

You can travel into Market Deeping and surrounding locations with our Bourne & Stamford ConnectBus service which operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. Our vehicles are fully accessible and a tail lift is available to accommodate mobility aids, enabling all to travel.

Market Rasen

Market Rasen is a small market town in the north of Lincolnshire. The InterConnect service 53 enables onward travel to Lincoln, Caistor, Grimsby and Cleethorpes. The town has a railway station with services to Grimsby, Lincoln and Newark. Market Rasen is popular with cyclists as it is on National Cycle Route 1 of the National Cycle Network.

Market Rasen Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. In addition to our easy-to-use bookable bus services to connect to Market Rasen, there are additional timetabled services: Service 26 and Service 27 Market Rasen to Louth, to complement the on-demand bus service.

Sleaford

Sleaford is a busy market town in Lincolnshire. Sleaford has a good public transport network including principal bus routes to Lincoln and Grantham as well as local services within Sleaford. Boston lies on the Poacher rail line and has direct trains to Skegness, Sleaford, Grantham and Nottingham.

Sleaford Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. Our vehicles are fully accessible and a tail lift is available to accommodate mobility aids, enabling all to travel. Callconnect Sleaford has a large operating area from  Horbling to Digby and includes Anwick Garden Centre, Silk Willoughby and Ruskington, Heckington Windmill, Sleaford Navigation House, to name a few of the wonderful places to visit on Callconnect. In addition to our easy-to-use bookable bus services to connect to Sleaford and the surrounding area, there are the timetabled services: Service 65/66 Sleaford-Cranwell-Billinghay, to complement the on-demand bus service.

Callconnect does not offer town journeys in Sleaford except for passengers who have mobility impairment and may use mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking frames.

Skegness

Skegness is a large town on the east coast of Lincolnshire. Skegness has great bus and rail connectivity with Interconnect bus routes to Boston, Spilsby, Horncastle, Mablethorpe and Lincoln and the Nottingham-Boston-Skegness PoacherLine serving the town.

Skegness Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. Our vehicles are fully accessible and a tail lift is available to accommodate mobility aids, enabling all to travel. In addition to our easy-to-use bookable bus services to connect to Skegness, there is an additional timetabled service: Service 39 Skegness Town Service (Monday to Saturday).

Callconnect does not offer town journeys in Skegness except for passengers who have mobility impairment and may use mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking frames.

Spalding

Spalding is a large market town in the South Holland district of Lincolnshire. Spalding bus routes include the Interconnect 37 and 505 to Peterborough and King’s Lynn. In addition to bus connections to Boston and Skegness, Spalding has rail connectivity via an hourly service southbound to Peterborough and northbound to Sleaford and Lincoln.

Spalding Callconnect operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. Callconnect Spalding has a large operating area from Crowland to Donington and includes Springfields Shopping and Garden Centre, Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre and Moulton Windmill. There is a comprehensive network of bus services in and around Spalding town centre.

Callconnect does not offer town journeys in Spalding except for passengers who have mobility impairment and may use mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking frames.

Spilsby

Spilsby is an historic market town in East Lindsey on the southern edge of the Wolds. The InterConnect 56 bus service offers connections to Horncastle, Skegness, Wragby and Lincoln.

You can travel into Spilsby and surrounding locations with Splisby Callconnect which operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. The operating area for Callconnect Spilsby includes villages and locations such as New Leake, Wainfeet, Gunby, Alford, Dalby Grange and Sausthorpe.

Stamford

Stamford is a historically impressive town located at the southernmost point in Lincolnshire. Stamford is well served by regular bus services to the neighbouring county of Rutland, The Deepings, Peterborough, Bourne and Spalding. In addition to road connections, Stamford has an historic railway station with departures available to Oakham, Leicester, Birmingham, Peterborough and Cambridge. 

ConnectBus operates six-days-a-week: 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7:30am-6:30pm on Saturdays. The service operates in south west Lincolnshire, east Northamptonshire, east Rutland and Peterborough. The service can be used for direct journeys to Stamford or Peterborough which includes Peterborough City Hospital. 

In addition ConnectBus and Callconnect offers additional timetabled services: Callconnect Service 4 Stamford to Grantham, and ConnectBus Service 9 Stamford to Oakham which compliments the CentreBus service 9 timetable.

Concessionary Bus Pass

The English National Concessionary Travel Scheme allows all eligible older and disabled people to travel free on off-peak (between 9.30am-11pm Monday to Friday and all day on weekends and bank holidays) scheduled bus services anywhere in England.

In Lincolnshire, the County Council currently allows Lincolnshire pass holders to travel free of charge on local journeys before 9.30am on weekdays
